To apply eyeliner, start with clean eyelids. Choose your preferred type of eyeliner—liquid, gel, pencil, or cream. Begin from the inner corner of your eye and work outward. For a precise line, use short strokes and connect them as you go. You can create a thin line for a subtle look or make it thicker for more intensity. To finish, ensure both eyes have a matching line and adjust as needed.
To apply mascara, start by curling your lashes if desired. Hold the mascara wand at the base of your lashes and wiggle it as you move upward to evenly coat the lashes. Allow the first coat to dry slightly before applying additional coats. Use a clean spoolie brush to separate any clumps.
Removing waterproof mascara can be a bit more challenging. Use an oil-based makeup remover, micellar water, or a specially formulated eye makeup remover. Apply a small amount to a cotton pad, gently press it against your closed eye, and let it sit for a few seconds to break down the mascara. Gently swipe the cotton pad downward to remove the mascara.
Mascara typically lasts about 3 to 6 months after opening. After this time, it's recommended to replace it to avoid potential bacteria growth and to ensure optimal performance.
Mascara is usually made of a combination of ingredients including waxes, pigments, oils, and preservatives. These ingredients work together to create the desired texture, color, and lasting power.
Winged eyeliner, also known as cat eyeliner, involves extending the eyeliner past the outer corner of the eye. Start by drawing a line along your upper lash line and then create a wing by extending the line at a slight upward angle. Connect the wing to the rest of the eyeliner, and adjust the thickness as desired.
An eye pencil can be applied to the upper and lower lash lines for definition. Gently glide the pencil along the lash line, starting from the inner corner and moving outward. You can create a soft line for a natural look or smudge it slightly for a smoky effect.
If your mascara has dried out, try adding a few drops of saline solution or eye drops to the tube. Insert the wand, close the cap tightly, and shake the tube gently. This can help revive the formula and make it easier to apply.
Cat eyeliner, also known as winged eyeliner, involves creating a winged or elongated shape at the outer corner of the eye. Start by drawing a line along the upper lash line, extending it outward and slightly upward. Connect the wing to the rest of the eyeliner, and adjust the angle and thickness as desired.
To create a smudged eyeliner look, apply eyeliner along the upper and lower lash lines. Use a smudging brush or a cotton swab to gently smudge and soften the lines for a smoky effect. You can also apply a bit of eyeshadow in a similar shade over the eyeliner to enhance the smudged look.
