Works Well With

What is Translucent Loose Setting Powder

With multiple major awards and counting, Laura Mercier's "best in beauty", cult-favorite bestseller is your go-to setting powder. Loose powder feels luxuriously dense in the jar, feels incredibly soft and silky-light on your skin. Pros love the super smooth application: goes on evenly, blends effortlessly, provides great wear. Sets makeup without adding weight or texture.

Modern Matte Finish

Creates a modern matte finish with a touch of sheer coverage. The translucent shade works on virtually all skin tones.

Soft-Focus Effect for a More Flawless Look

Like all Laura Mercier Setting Powders, it has a soft-focus effect that subtly blurs the look of fine lines and imperfections. Doesn't settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey.

Formulation Details

Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. Non-caking. Dermatologically tested.

Laura recommends applying with the Velour Puff (sold separately). Only the 0.33 oz size of Translucent Loose Setting Powder comes with the Velour Puff.

*Based on #1 US rank by NPD Group Inc in Prestige Retail, Year 2016 - Translucent

Preparing the puff is key: press the Velour Puff into the loose powder, then work the powder into the puff by folding and rubbing the halves together, or by tapping the powdered side vigorously on back of hand.

Gently press puff onto skin, using a rolling motion to "work" the powder in. (Around eyes, use Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes.)

As with all Setting Powders, apply after any creamy formulas, including cream blush.

When your entire makeup application is complete, including color, give your skin a velvety, finished look by using the Powder Brush to apply Translucent Loose Setting Powder to sides of cheeks, center of forehead, nose, and tip of chin.

In love

The best, very light on skin.

LOVE, but pricy

I use this product every single time I put on my foundation so it's not cakey looking and sets it just right. I love love love this powder, I don't use any other kind. But it's pretty pricey so I try to use it lightly.

Do nothing for my combination/oily skin

I didn't think so this product deserves the money I have been paid for. I have combination/oily skin. I always get a little oily after my lunch which around 2pm. I am still see the same situation wether I use this powder or othe brand. I see no different. So why am I spending so much money if see the same result by using this product! Save the money people

Bummed out

Seems like a really great product but somehow moisture got into the container and all the powder clumped together rendering it basically un-usable. Waste of money :(

This product is great! It doesn't leave any residue, and keeps my makeup in place all day! This is a more matte/natural finish. It is the perfect color for light skin tones. One con is it is a little pricey. I would definitely buy it again!

Hi i am 41 years old. I have normal and little bit oily (T area) skin I would like to buy loose powder to put on the make up but i lost and confused with a lot of types loose powder you have. Help me to choose pls. As i saw you have Brihgters powder under the eyes Loose setting powder Mineral powder Invisible powder Pls explain me and help me to choose I have white bright skin Thanks

Diana, If you are wanting to set your makeup without adding weight or texture. We recommend you use one of our setting Powders. Translucent Loose Setting Powder sets your makeup without adding weight or texture. It is ideal for normal to oily skin of virtually every tone. Invisible Loose Setting Powder Set your makeup and gives your skin a natural shine free finish. It is Ideal for normal to dry skin of every tone. Both setting powders are recommended for the face area only. To set makeup around your eyes we recommend Secret Brightening Powder. Secret Brightening Powder sets your under eye concealer and instantly brighten the eye area. It is ideal for all skin types and tones. We offer Mineral Powder Foundation and Mineral Illuminating Powder. Mineral Illuminating Powder is a finishing powder that gives an all over glow or can be used on specific areas of the face. Mineral Illuminating Powder is oil free and is an ideal way for oilier skin types to add radiance over their matte makeup. For more information on our different powders Please give customer service a call at 1888-637-2437 or visit a Laura Mercier counter near you.

Is this a mineral setting powder

Heidi, Translucent Loose Setting Powder is not a mineral setting powder. Translucent Loose Setting Powder is a lightweight soft silky setting powder that creates a soft focus effect for a more flawless look. Laura Mercier does have two Mineral Illuminating Powders that can be used as a setting or finishing powder. The Mineral Illuminating Powders instantly brightens your skin and gives skin a natural, healthy radiant glow.

How can the product be good for all skin tones when they have come out with a darker shade? I wasted my money buying the lighter shade because the description said it was good for all shades, and I am very dark. It made my skin appear very dull, not matte. The company has finally recognized darker skin tones which is great, but will this new medium deep shade truly be okay for a skin tone that is still darker than the medium deep shade?

Michelle, Thank you for your feedback. Translucent Loose Setting Powder can be used on any skin tone because it is a sheer silky powder. If your skin appears dull not matte you have applied too much of the powder. You should lightly dust your face with Translucent Loose Setting Powder. Translucent Loose Setting Powder Medium Deep can be worn be worn by virtually every tone as well.

If the batch code of Laura Mercier Loose powder is 5355Q, 5297Q and 5283Q, how can I find if its past manufacture? And how many years from the manufacturing date is the expiry date? Thankyou. Please response a soon as possible

Jewel Newbie

Jewel, please contact the retailer from where you made your purchase. The retailer will be able to assist you with batch code information. A product expiration date or shelf life is indicated by a small image of a jar with a number next to it: 6m, 12m, 18m, etc. ("m" meaning months). Once opened and the product is exposed to the air, the shelf life is the number in months so noted. For maximum stability, products should be stored at room temperature (below 30°C/86°F), away from direct sunlight.

I apply the translucent powder under my eyes, on top of my concealer, right when I do this it instantly creases and makes the under eye area look thirty years older! I want to love this product as much as everyone else. What am I doing wrong?!

Stace, Set under eye concealer with Secret Brightening Powder, not with Translucent Loose Setting Powder. Secret Brightening Powder is specifically made for the eye area it will instantly brighten the eye area and won't settle into fine lines, accentuate shadows or look cakey. Apply Translucent Loose Setting Powder to sides of cheeks, the center of forehead, nose, and the tip of your chin.

I have an olive/medium skin tone so will the lose powder make my under eyes look grey once I bake?

Samiha, If you are seeing a white cast or grey look after baking it could mean you're using too much concealer and too much Translucent Loose Setting Powder under the eye area. You don't need to use as much product under and around the eye area. It could also mean you are using the wrong color concealer or you may need to use a color corrector before your concealer.
