I ordered this while I was stuck indoors during Hurricane Irma. Let me tell you, this is one of the best products I have ever lined my eyes with. It does not burn, does not feel greasy and it is still in perfect place after 8 hours. I just lift my lid and tap it into the lashes ...then i tapped it onto my lid as well for a more intense look. Not like normal liner....does not move from the pan unless it is wet.

I want one in each colour

I've only just discovered this in Bleu marine. This is so easy to apply each morning. No more so called soft eye crayons that pull on the delicate eye area and no more harsh black liquid liner either. It can be blended also by using a damp brush with less product. I am waiting for the green and the purple to come back in. Hopefully this will be soon.

The Best!

I use this with water or MAC Fix+ and it stays beautifully. I have the charcoal and look forward to trying the blue and black. It goes on smoothly with a lot of color and if you want, you can smudge it and blend it a bit before it dries fully. And for me, once it dries it really stays put. I really wish there was a black-brown shade. Then I would never have to look for another eyeliner.

I love the cake eyeliner, I use with just water.

I purchased the activator for the tight line eye liner and I did't care for it at all. I found it difficult to use and it made my LM brush so hard and glue like stiff, I had to purchase another brush to go back to using water. I also found it rendered my cake mascara useless unless I used the activator. I am keeping my stiff brush and hard cake eyeliner for use in travel to hot humid places like St. Louis, MO, ugh for use there.

Best eyeliner ever! Give your eyes an amazing POP

I love to use this product on days I don't want to look made up but still want my eyes to have a sparkle. I just line them and put on a touch of mascara. Love it so easy.

I have used this product successfully with water for years!

I love this product. It is the only eyeliner I have used for years. If you use this product with the flat-tip brush, I find it goes on easily and smoothly. My only caveat is that I have to draw the line twice - once for each eye and then go back and fill in again for a smooth dark line. I had bought the activator when it first came out, but decided it was not worth the money and that I did not need any extra chemicals near my eyes.

1 Star Product without the Activator

1

I used this product for about 4 years along with the activator. The liner stayed in place until I took it off. I loved it. Now that the activator is discontinued, I tried mixing with water. The liner irritates my eyes and eventually migrates into my tear ducts and under my lower lashes. My eyes get red and watery and that makes the liner run even more. It's not a pretty look. The makeup artist at LM tried to sell me brightener powder to "set" the area under my eyes so the liner wouldn't run. It didn't help. I switched to Nars gel liner and I'm very happy with my liner again. I did hear that Trish McEvoy makes an activator so if you still have the cake liner, maybe look for that?

Discontinued the Activator?!?! Now the cake is useless!

1

Anyone who says they can use it without the activator must be talking about a different product. This cake eyeliner doesn't work without the activator and now I have several cakes that are useless! I've gone back to MAC who makes great cake eyeliner to be used with water but it doesn't stay on like the LM one did. I'm so sad because after all these years of wearing liquid liner, I'd FINALLY found the holy grail of no smudge, long lasting, deep color that didn't fade, smudge or flake. :-(

I'm in love with this product, used with ELF lock and seal

5

I understand they discontinued the activator for this product, but all you need to make it perform perfectly is a little bit of ELF's lock and seal. Drop one drop in your eyeliner, mix it up and voila, perfect eyeliner that will stay on all day, glide on easily and not budge.

LOVE!!! LOVE!!! LOVE!!! I've used this product for 10+ years

5

I am surprised to read the reviews about not being able to use this without the activator! I was taught to use this with water and have done so for over 10 years! While this does take some technique practice and replacing the applicator whenever the bristle start to flare out too much. (I only use the Laura Mercier flat eyeliner brush) I have never had an issue with this product being used with water. I love how it makes my eyelashes look thicker and it stays on all day without any irritation. Please do not discontinue this product!! It is the only one of its kind that I can find. However, if customers feel strongly about the activator perhaps it should be brought back!!

Best color recommendation for a brunette that wants a smudged look?

MB

Hi MB, I'm a brunette and I use charcoal grey for every day and black ebony for more of a night/dramatic look. If you've never used this eyeliner before, I recommend also getting the brush (flat eye liner) and there are helpful YouTube videos for application tips.

gwen.robeson

Can this product be used on the waterline?

Stephanie

Do you mean on the inside of your eye? If so, the answer is no it will run. Sent from my iPad

How can i get my 10% discount pn cake eye liner ??

Ibrahim

Ibrahim, Please give customer service a call at 1-888-637-2437.

I read that you recently discontinued the tightline activator. Is this true and, if so, what do you recommend to replace it?

Cynthia

Cynthia, the Tightline Activator was discontinued in 2014. Unfortunately, there will not be a replacement for the Tightline Activator. You can still add water to your Cake Eye Liner to create a thick paste.

DD

I've used the black tightline cake eyeliner for years, but now I'm having trouble finding it. I'm can't find it in stores anymore, and several of the shades listed on the LM website are out of stock. Is this product being discontinued? If so, does LM have plans to introduce a similar replacement? I get such better results from this than from any liquid or gel eyeliners I've tried. I'd hate to see it go away!

K.

K, the Tightline Cake Eye Liners are not being discontinued. The Black Ebony Tightline Cake Eye Liner will be back in stock soon.We will be happy to email you once a product is back in stock on our website. Please logon to the Laura Mercier website and go the product page of the item you are interested in and click on Email me when it's back in stock.

Why was the activator discontinued?

Lakenana

Hi, The tightline activator was discontinued because it was not a top selling product.

tarzu

Why did you discontinue the tight line activator? Anty chance of it coming back?

Ande

unfortunately at this time we do not have any plans on bringing this item back.

Disappointed about this having parabens. Did not buy but hope to in the near future. I drove all the way to the mall with the Macy's that has Laura mercier because I was told everything was paraben free but it became apparent that it was not true, only the foundation is. I am very upset about this.

Jen

I apologize, I will forward you comments to our product development team.

I use this with a cake eyeliner sealer, similar to the activator. Right now I'm removing it with Lancome Bi-Facil on a q-tip, which works. Is there a safer way to remove it? I tried an oil based remover and that did not dissolve the product/sealer. I am just concerned about safety because it is so close to the waterline.

Sarah F.

Sarah, To remove the Tightline Cake Eye Liner we recommend using our Dual- Action Eye makeup Remover. This is a gentle makeup remover that quickly dissolves and lifts all traces of makeup and mascara with no oily residue. The Dual- Action Eye makeup Remover is non-comedogenic and ophthalmologist tested. dermatologically and allergy tested to minimize the risk of allergy and irritation. It is also fragrance free and paraben Free.
