Blush Makeup FAQs
How to apply blush?
The best way to apply blush will depend on the formula. If you’re using a powder blush, we recommend using our Cheek Color Brush and applying the product to the apples of the cheeks in soft, sweeping circular motions. Focus the pigment on the apple and blend out for a seamless and even application. For liquid blush, your fingers will be your best tool. Dab a little on your cheeks, then use your fingers to smooth out the product, building coverage where needed.
Is it bad to put blush on without foundation?
No, it’s entirely up to you how you’d like to wear your makeup. Perhaps there are days you don’t want any foundation, but you still want a little color on your cheeks. Whereas, other days you may prefer full coverage and no blush, only bronzer. There’s no right or wrong way to wear your makeup–only focus on what makes you feel most confident.
What color blush should I wear for fair skin?
Fair skin tones really benefit from a light, soft pink or coral shade. Something like La Piscine or Southbound in our liquid tinted moisturizer blush or Bellini or Strawberry in our powder blush. Check out our article about orange blush for tips about orange blush on fair skin.
What is the best blush color for olive skin?
Anything with a golden undertone will bring out your skin’s natural glow if you have olive skin. Consider shades like warm corals or bronzy rose shades like Chai or Rose in our powder blush. For help finding the best foundation color for olive skin check out or Foundation Matching tool.
How to choose blush color?
The best way to choose a blush color is by identifying your undertone. For those with cool undertones, opt for soft pinks, rose, or mauve shades. For warm undertones, look for peachy shades or soft corals. Choosing a blush shade that has the same undertone as your skin will make the product appear more natural. Experience our blush try on tool to virtually test different shades and find your perfect match before you buy!
Can you use lipstick as blush?
Of course. The best part about makeup is its versatility. You get to decide the rules when it comes to how you wear each product, meaning you can use a matte lipstick or a creamy lipstick as blush whenever you want. Simply dab a little of the lipstick in the apple of your cheeks, and blend outward using your fingertips.
What color blush for cool undertones?
Cool undertones look great with soft pinks, mauve or rosy shades. This will highlight your natural coloring. If you’re wondering how to choose an eyeshadow color as well visit the link because we’ve got the best tool for you.
Can I apply blush under foundation?
Absolutely! Applying blush under foundation—also known as underpainting—creates a soft, natural flush that mimics a lit-from-within glow. This technique helps blend the color seamlessly into your skin, making it look effortlessly radiant. For best results, use a cream or liquid blush and lightly blend it onto the apples of your cheeks before applying foundation. Want to master this technique?
