Works Well With

What is Translucent Loose Setting Powder

With multiple major awards and counting, Laura Mercier's "best in beauty", cult-favorite bestseller is your go-to setting powder. Loose powder feels luxuriously dense in the jar, feels incredibly soft and silky-light on your skin. Pros love the super smooth application: goes on evenly, blends effortlessly, provides great wear. Sets makeup without adding weight or texture.

Modern Matte Finish

Creates a modern matte finish with a touch of sheer coverage. The translucent shade works on virtually all skin tones.

Soft-Focus Effect for a More Flawless Look

Like all Laura Mercier Setting Powders, it has a soft-focus effect that subtly blurs the look of fine lines and imperfections. Doesn't settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey.

Formulation Details

Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. Non-caking. Dermatologically tested.

Laura recommends applying with the Velour Puff (sold separately). Only the 0.33 oz size of Translucent Loose Setting Powder comes with the Velour Puff.

Preparing the puff is key: press the Velour Puff into the loose powder, then work the powder into the puff by folding and rubbing the halves together, or by tapping the powdered side vigorously on back of hand.

Gently press puff onto skin, using a rolling motion to "work" the powder in. (Around eyes, use Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes.)

As with all Setting Powders, apply after any creamy formulas, including cream blush.

PRO TIP

When your entire makeup application is complete, including color, give your skin a velvety, finished look by using the Powder Brush to apply Translucent Loose Setting Powder to sides of cheeks, center of forehead, nose, and tip of chin.

LOVE the powder, HATE the packaging

By

Comments about Translucent Loose Setting Powder:

I am so happy to hear that it is not just me with every single powder I have bought from Laura Mercier doing this. I have been in love with this powder for years but I have finally reached by breaking point with the packaging with the crack with my bronzer reunited my rehearsal dinner dress, my crack crumbled and made for a sad day.

Great Powder, Cheap Container

By

from California

Comments about Translucent Loose Setting Powder:

This light powder is perfect for cutting shine where you need it. The container isn't durable, and the rim chips very easily, even when the lid isn't screwed on. I've used similarly packaged powders from other brands, and that was never an issue. Given that the powder costs nearly $50, the container shouldn't fall apart like that.

Comments about Translucent Loose Setting Powder:

Initially when I heard the hype of the original shades, I wasn't really buying it so I didn't hop on the "favorite train" but when the medium deep came out ... I just knew that I had to try it out. When I tell you this product is GREAT! I love it and if it's the same formula as the other, I can see why it's so well liked.

        Does not travel well

        By

        from Alabama

Comments about Translucent Loose Setting Powder:

I like the powder but am very disappointed that no powder puff was included. While I usually apply with a powder brush the puff would help the package travel well. Other loose powders that I purchased in the past included a small puff which I would leave in the container. I tried to send a comment via the website's contact us email form but it was returned so that is very disappointing too.

Is this a mineral setting powder
Asked on 5/17/2017 by Heidi from Florida

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Heidi, Translucent Loose Setting Powder is not a mineral setting powder. Translucent Loose Setting Powder is a lightweight soft silky setting powder that creates a soft focus effect for a more flawless look. Laura Mercier does have two Mineral Illuminating Powders that can be used as a setting or finishing powder. The Mineral Illuminating Powders instantly brightens your skin and gives skin a natural, healthy radiant glow.

          Q:

How can the product be good for all skin tones when they have come out with a darker shade? I wasted my money buying the lighter shade because the description said it was good for all shades, and I am very dark. It made my skin appear very dull, not matte. The company has finally recognized darker skin tones which is great, but will this new medium deep shade truly be okay for a skin tone that is still darker than the medium deep shade?

Jewel, please contact the retailer from where you made your purchase. The retailer will be able to assist you with batch code information. A product expiration date or shelf life is indicated by a small image of a jar with a number next to it: 6m, 12m, 18m, etc. ("m" meaning months). Once opened and the product is exposed to the air, the shelf life is the number in months so noted. For maximum stability, products should be stored at room temperature (below 30°C/86°F), away from direct sunlight.

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Samiha, If you are seeing a white cast or grey look after baking it could mean you're using too much concealer and too much Translucent Loose Setting Powder under the eye area. You don't need to use as much product under and around the eye area. It could also mean you are using the wrong color concealer or you may need to use a color corrector before your concealer.
