Set your makeup and take control of oily shine with this mattifying powder. Ideal for oilier skin of every tone.

Works Well With

Oil-free, oil-controlling, ultra-sheer setting powder minimizes shine and visible breakthrough with a naturally derived Shine Control Complex. Subtle mint green tint helps tone down redness. Makeup stays fresh, flawless, and shine-free.

Full Matte Finish

Delivers our most matte finish. Transparent shade works on all skin tones.

Soft-Focus Effect for a More Flawless Look

Like all Laura Mercier Setting Powders, it has a soft-focus effect that subtly blurs the look of fine lines and imperfections. Doesn't settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey.

Formulation Details

Oil-free. Formulated without talc. Formulated without fragrance. Non-comedogenic. Dermatologist tested.

The compact includes a double-sided applicator.

Begin by using the sponge side of the applicator to pick up powder from the compact using a dabbing motion. Lightly press onto the back of the hand to evenly dispense the product into the applicator.

Next, using a light patting motion, gently press the powdered sponge onto skin. Apply all over, especially on shine-prone areas such as forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin (around eyes, use Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes).

Then use the puff side of the applicator to softly buff away any excess powder for a matte, flawless finish.

As with all Setting Powders, apply after any creamy formulas, including cream blush.

I used to use Lara Mercier's mineral primer, which seems to have been discontinued. In my search for a comparable replacement, I found this. I have fair, oily skin. I do have to reapply this product a few times a day if I want to be truly shine-free, but it lasts better than any other product I've used, and it doesn't build up and clog my pores. However, I strongly recommend using a brush with this product--NOT the sponge applicator that comes with it. I ruined my first compact by using the sponge applicator, which just soaked up the oil on my face and transferred it to the powder, turning the whole compact into a useless green paste. But if I use a quality face brush, no oil gets transferred, and it goes on great. Just a little does a good job, so the compact lasts a while, even with multiple times a day usage. I now keep a compact and a retractable travel face brush in my office, in my purse, and in my bathroom at home. Love it.

This powder really is wonderful at taking away shine... However, it also tends to wipe off my makeup in the process. You have to blend this in so much that it wipes off makeup; otherwise you're left with white powdery marks. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and attribute to user error, but I can't say it's my favorite LM product.

Comments about Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder:

In no time, my nose develops an oily shine. This powder successfully controls this. I wear it over make up, or even alone. The very slight hint of green is totally invisible and acts as a slight tone corrector. A wonderful product.

Comments about Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder:

I love love love this product. I am in my 40's , have very oily skin and some wrinkles. This wonderful powder mattifies without settling into fine lines and never ever looks cakey. My skin feels smooth , silky and flawless. My only gripe is that it's rather pricey for the amount of product you receive.

It works!! I hate seeing my face turns oily in summer days. This is truly a rescue for me. Just apply a thin layer of this pressed powder over the face after make-up ..

Perfect to keep in your purse for touch-ups!

Comments about Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder:

I bought this product based on reviews I read on this website and have not been disappointed. The green tint is definitely interesting but actually totally disappears with application and helps reduce any redness. This is perfect for touch ups throughout the day. I wish the sponge were a little thicker....it is thin and two-sided. Still, I expect I will purchase this again.

want to look flawless? use this

Comments about Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder:

I wear this to set the SPF 20 Tinted Moisturizer and concealer, and in the humidity of south Florida, my face looks cool and makeup is perfect ALL DAY. I actually do not need to touch up my makeup all day as long as I start with this in the morning. It doesn't cake nor dry out the skin. It has a little greenish cast in the pan but this is not evident when you apply the product. I prefer a brush or a soft puff to apply, not a sponge applicator. This is a wonderful product, thank you Laura!

Best Powder for Touch-Ups too

Comments about Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder:

I carry this powder in my purse to use during the day, but sometimes I use it instead of my mineral finishing powder if I run out of my mineral finishing powder before ordering one. This powder is definitely natural looking and about impossible to make it look powdery or too thick. It is AWESOME at creating a flawless top off look to your face.

Never looks Cakey

Comments about Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder:

This finishing powder is pretty darn nice. It's so smooth and velvety and picks up right on my powder brush with ease. It blends really well into my face over my foundation and doesn't sit on top of my skin at all. One time I even put more powder than I normally would to see what it would do, but it just kept blending into my skin controlling shine and creating a beautiful matte surface. You would have never known I just piled on powder. Love the greenish tint to as I get red sometimes around my nose and it reduces that well. I was skeptical at paying $32 for it at first but it was way worth it.

  • Q:

I currently use the oil free primer, then the oil free tinted moisturizer, and then the smooth finish foundation powder. I recently bought the shine control setting powder since my nose tends to get oily and adding more of the foundation powder just makes me look cakey. When should I apply the shine setting powder and should I use it for touch-ups throughout the day?

    Thanks ;)
Asked on 1/23/2017 by Sabrina from United States

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Sabrina, You have applied too much of the Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder if it starts to look cakey. To prevent your Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder from looking cakey lightly dust your nose with the powder. You only need to use a very small amount. You should apply Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder when your entire makeup application is complete. Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder is great for touch up throughout the day.

  • Q:

How will the green tint work on someone of dark skin? Green corrects redness as stated and my skin tone has red undertones but that's about it.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Renee, the Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder works on all skin tones. The mint green tint is so ultra-sheer and lightweight it is like wearing an invisible powder. The Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder will eliminate shine, control oil breakthrough and will balance well with your red undertones.

I've read that this can be used under makeup for very oily skin. I have very oily skin, but I'm wondering how to use it before I apply my makeup. Would I use it before or after my primer, and what about before or after my BB cream? Thanks.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

DCGirl, The Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder Shine Control was created to be used as a finishing step after you have finished applying your makeup. You can however lightly apply all over the face to help prevent oil breakthrough. The velvety pressed powder is ideal for touch-ups throughout the day. You would use this product after you have applied your Primer.
