Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

This product is awesome. I have really great skin naturally and hence don't have a heavy makeup routine BUT as I've gotten older (30+) I've acquired some spots on my face and darkening under the eyes; as well as, my skin tends to get very oily throughout the course of the day. Because I believe in quality I have tested out every major brand and to my surprise Laura Mercier has been a consistent win for me; that's in foundation, primer, bronzer, blush, etc. And although I don't wear these items often, when I do they are "flawless." Because of my standing devotion to the brand I became curious about what could help with the oily/shininess I experience and I found this pressed powder. I tried it in the store. Went home thought about it. Ordered online. It came. And I've been using it everyday! It does not go on chalky, it offers a subtle satin finish, it brightens my skin a bit and it LASTS ALL DAY! Through tears, outfit changes, randomly touching your face... all of it! I really stick by this brand's quality and color palette.

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

My mother suggested this to me a while back, and I bought it yesterday. It's very nice and doesn't change the color of my makeup. It feels light and natural on my skin, and would recommend this to anyone.

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

This is a great touch-up product for your purse. The powder is very finely milled and I love the fact that it adds no additional color. You cannot see it on the surface of the skin so it's natural looking.

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

As translucent powders go, this is a good one. Great sized compact which can easily be carried around and generally a good product for blotting. Definitely recommend.

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

This the best powder for giving flawless skin. It blurs and makes skin look so natural. I don't feel that you have a heavy powder finish which pushes this way past all others.

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

The reason I like the pressed powder is because of the ease to use it. I can carry it with me in my purse and do touch ups through out the day if needed...I prefer it over the loose as it's just easier for me to apply...

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

I love this powder! I wear it alone for a soft finish, but generally as a setting powder after my makeup application. I only touch it up about once a day (12-16) hour period, because i am in a humid climate. It is well worth the price and will last a while.

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

This is the pressed powder to end all powders. I am not a fan of loose powders at all, so this is a must-have for me. I have tried every pressed powder on the drugstore market and many on the department store side. This surpasses all of them in both setting foundation/concealer and preventing any shine from coming through all day. I have very dry skin, and was pleasantly surprised that my skin was not further dried out by this product (considering how mattifying it is). Be aware, this is one powder you can't just rub down your face like some other brands- you need to apply it properly, patting it in and rolling it every so slightly to set it on the face. I adore it, though, and will not buy any other powder from now on.

    Great for all skin types

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

This wonderful powder has served me well. As someone with combination skin, I often have trouble finding cosmetics that can both mask the oily skin on my forehead and nose and not emphasis the dry flaky spots on my cheeks and chin while not causing irritation or further breakouts. Luckily, I found Laura's Pressed Setting Powder. This powder is versatile enough to work on the dry and oily parts of my face and really does a nice job creating a smooth finish.

This powder is completely translucent and is a very nice, silky texture. When applied on my nose, it transforms the skin on my nose from oily to nice and satiny. Though it does a great job soaking up oil, it doesn't leave a matte and chalky finish like some other pressed powders I've tried. it actually leaves my skin with a very subtle luminous glow that photographs nicely.

To me, the best feature of this powder is its portability; it comes in a very nice compact. I needed a pressed powder to carry in my purse for on-the-go touchups during the day and this case is perfect for the job. It is very slim which means it hardly takes up any room in my bag. The compact stays closed in my bag and does not flip open unexpectedly. So I never have to worry about opening my purse to find a flipped open powder crumbled all over my stuff (don't laugh...it's happened to me a few times before). Also, it applies nicely with the puff so i don't have to carry a bulky brush.

I use this powder over my liquid foundation in lieu of colored powder. It has nice lasting power, but I do to reapply to my shiny nose and forehead every 3-4 hours -- less during the winter.

Comments about Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder:

I love that it is colorless so it doesn't darken my makeup. I don't set my foundation with it initially though, I use the losse; I like it much better for that first set and just use this to eliminate shine throughout the day.

    • Q:

I am African-American with warm under tones/light brown skin. I am not a big fan of makeup, however, in the summertime, I am constantly wiping away the oil from around my nose area. I would like to use a pressed powder to absorb the oil and not apply color to my skin-would this be a product that I could rely on, for that purpose?

        A:

beardster, We recommend you use the Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder. The oil-free, oil-controlling, ultra-sheer setting powder minimizes shine and delivers a matte finish. The subtle mint green tint helps tone down redness. This Transparent powder works on all skin tones.

Comparing pressed powder and loose powder, how do they affect my make up/face differently?
Asked on 9/10/2016 by Eunice from Japan

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Eunice, Loose powders are finely milled powders which are a fluffier consistency and have smaller particles. Pressed powder particles are not as fine as loose powders and are more compact. Both powders will even out your skin tone and absorb oil and have the same results. Both powers were made because customers prefer one over the other. Loose powers usually come in a jar and are contained under a sieve-like cap for a more controlled pour when using the product. Pressed powders come in a compact that sometimes has a mirror and is more travel-friendly

I understand that they are the same powder but may I know the difference between loose and pressed? I am not sure which one to choose.

      • A:

The particles of pressed powder are compressed into a cake. Loose powder has loose particles.
