Benjamin Ruiz has been in the cosmetics industry over twenty years and has been with Laura Mercier since the beginning. Benjamin is based out of Houston, Texas.
Benjamin studies each client's face for symmetry, lightness and darkness and creates a truly personalized look for every client. Benjamin believes that the focus should remain on skincare because "every woman can look flawless and unblemished without heavy foundation."
You can see some of Benjamin's extensive editorial work in the U.S., Australia and Hong Kong versions of Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Eve, Allure, InStyle, Modern Bride, Asian Bride, Sure, Jessica, and Lucky. He was also named one of Houston's Top Makeup Artists by Paper City.
Benjamin's work can also be seen on your television screen. He has assisted Laura for the Oprah Show during their Pop Star Challenge. His work has been seen on countless Laura Mercier colour campaigns, and most recently assisted Laura in creating the looks for the spring 2009 collections.
He has also worked many runway shows throughout his career, including Vanessa Riley, Hugo Boss, Gilles Rossier, Alice + Olivia, Pamella Roland and Oscar de la Renta. Benjamin has also participated in New York, Paris, and London Fashion Week. Most recently, Benjamin attended the Emmy After Party applying touch ups to guests and celebrities in the Laura Mercier Lounge.
What is your top beauty secret?
My top beauty secret is to use Laura Mercier's Hydra Soothing Gel Mask as a "balm beauty flash." Place the mask in the refrigerator and apply it to the face when cold. This will create a "tightening effect" and stimulate circulation, creating an amazingly healthy glow.
