Luis Soto has developed his reputation with over sixteen years in the cosmetics industry and is one of the country's leading Makeup Artists. Luis is based out of New York City.
Luis has always been very passionate about the arts and fashion. He spent a great deal of his education studying fashion design and art and attended The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Luis has been very successful translating art and the techniques of painting to the face.
Prior to joining the company, Luis worked on many special projects including being the makeup artist of choice to help Cher and Cyndi Lauper through their concert tours. While in Miami, Luis also worked closely with several Spanish Soap Opera celebrities.
Luis' work has been seen in many runway shows including Catherine Malandrino, Yigal Azrouel, Alice + Olivia and Escada. He has most recently created the look for the Pamella Roland spring 2008 & 2009 fashion show during New York fashion week, an event he has been a part of for nearly a decade.
Editorially, Luis has created Laura Mercier's signature flawless face for Time Out NY and was featured in an article in the New York Sun about Fashion Week makeup trends.
During Luis' international travels he has participated in press events with top news casts in Malaysia and Taiwan.
What is your favorite Laura Mercier product? Why?
My favorite product is the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer! As an artist, I of course, prime my canvas to create a smooth surface for flawless makeup application. The Foundation Primer instantly smoothes the skin's surface, allows foundations to glide on without hesitation and keeps the color true all day long. This product is even great for women who do not wear foundation; it will keep any makeup refreshed and brighter throughout the day!
