Perfecting eyelid primer—Laura's "foundation for lids"—creates the ideal eye canvas. Wear alone or under shadow.

Works Well With

Unique, versatile cream primes lids to give you the perfect canvas for any eye look. Wear as primer under powder eye shadow to create a uniform base, help prevent creasing, extend colour wear and enhance how colours "pop" on your lids. Or wear alone as "foundation for lids" to camouflage imperfections for a flawless nude eye.

Medium coverage formula helps cover redness, veins and other discolourations. Creamy, lightweight texture blends easily and won't slide off lids (you may have noticed how a typical face formula used on eyes has trouble staying put). Long-lasting, water-resistant, and crease-free. Botanicals and other skin-friendly ingredients help soothe and protect the delicate skin of your lids.

Two shades are special colour correctors: Use Peach for brightening and lightening, and to correct the look of sallow skin. Use Eyebright to tone down purpleness and pinkness on the lids.

Formulation Details
Non-comedogenic. Dermatologist-tested. Ophthalmologist tested.

Apply to the eye lid with Crème Eye Colour Brush, Crème Eye Detail Brush, the wand applicator, or clean fingertips. If applying as primer, choose a shade close to your skin tone.

PRO TIP

Laura loves to mix the Eyebright shade with other shades to brighten the eye lids. The opaque brightness of the

light blue shade gives a healthy glow to the eye lids (helps correct purple or pink tones too).

I own two of these little gems: Flax and Linen. Linen is used when I want to wear a little shimmer in my shadow, as it is basically a flat, light primer and will not interfere with the subtle glow I get from a shimmer colour; and I use Flax (which contains a touch of shimmer on its own) by itself without a shadow. This gives a natural, healthy eye look for a simple makeup. You do not need to use a lot of product, one or two small dots of the primer are all that is necessary. The doe foot applicator tends to hold a lot of product, but you can just apply it lightly on one spot and use your fingers to blend it over the eye lid. I have used both of these for over a year now; they are superb at keeping oily eyelids more normal and keeping eye shadows in place. Highly recommended; and I never used to wear a primer other than a veil of foundation for many years. You must try one....or two or three!

Let me just start by saying that I LOOOOOVE this product. Why the 1 star rating you say? It's because they have changed the color of wheat!! It use to be a PERRRRFECT match! And now, there's so much redness in my wheat! It's no longer a beige color. Perhaps if you're color of beige with tons of red undertones. But who has that???? The color is no longer in the family of classic beige. Whatever you did Laura... PLEASE undo it! PLEASE bring back the WHEAT that I've come to know and LOOOOVE! I'm crying inside :(

Comments about Laura Mercier Eye Basics:

I used to use this, but as I moved into my late 40's I had trouble using this and needed more than just coverage on the eyelid area. Eye Canvas solved this problem for me and EC2 matched my skin perfectly! LOVE EYE CANVAS! Just realized Eye Canvas is discontinued and there isn't another product by L.M. that comes close. Now what????

Comments about Laura Mercier Eye Basics:

In an earlier day, I would have told you I could not live without this product. However, something changed in the formula that made it less opaque. I used this everyday until that and now I don't use at all. My perfect shade was Flax. It matched my skin color perfectly and I loved the pearly finish. PLEASE PLEASE work on this so that it will have the consistency needed to create the perfect canvas. I prefer this delivery method over "eye canvas".

        Best cream shadow

        By

Comments about Laura Mercier Eye Basics:

I really like cream shadows, for a 2 minute makeup girl like me, they are the ultimate convenience. They are hard to get right. I've bought failures elsewhere in the past, they go on smeary, difficult to apply, or the color just doesn't come through.

This is perfect, it glides on easily, easy to blend with other shadows, the colors are flattering. I hope they bring out more colors. I'm blonde blue eyed, so I bought peach, its a really nice summer color.

        Wheat has changed

Comments about Laura Mercier Eye Basics:

I am so disappointed in this product. I recently purchased my second tube of wheat, and as mentioned in another review the color has completely changed. It used to be a perfect match to my skin tone and provided a neutral base. Now it is a weird peachy color. Does not look good at all and changes the way all of my eye shadows look!

Comments about Laura Mercier Eye Basics:

This is a product I used for a long time and liked it till I discovered the Eye Canvas which I find much less drying which is important for my middle aged eye lids. Eye Basics has a lovely subtle sheen that younger users may really like.

What eye shadow would you suggest is the closest to the shade of Desire?

Kitty, The closest eye shadow shade to the discontinued shimmer eye color Desire would be the Caviar Stick Eye Color Copper or the Sateen Eye Color Baroque.

Really like putting the color on with my finger knowing exactly the amount to use.
Use just a tiny bit to cover the eye and lasts a long time. I wouldn't call myself fair. More light olive skin tone.
Would the linen, wheat, or darker color be better? I haven't tried the eye contour creme. Please advise.

            A:

Jane, Eye Basics are foundations or primer for eyelids. You can wear them alone or under your eye shadows to enhance the color of your shadow. Choose a shade close to your skin tone. Apply to the eyelids with a brush, the wand applicator or your fingertips. For dry dark circles under the eye, we recommend moisturizing under your eye area first then apply Secret Concealer. Secret Concealer is
the perfect everyday under eye concealer that covers dark circles and imperfections under the eye area.

You could combine it with Flax to soften it some and add a shimmer to it, or Eyebright to make it appear brighter and softer. If you simply want to lighten it for a more skin tone effect, try using Linen.
