What is Coquette Makeup and How to Get the Look Yourself

As Barbiecore takes over the internet, you’re likely seeing pink, pink, and more pink. And while that fun, pop-arty vibe may suit so many, we’re serving up a more romantic pink alternative in the form of coquette makeup. Not sure what that is? See our video below:

Meet Coquette Makeup

Here’s everything you need to know about the “coquette style” makeup. For starters, let’s break down the meaning of the word coquette: Flirty, feminine, coy, and cute are all words that embody someone with a coquette nature.

So, with that in mind, how would you imagine someone who is feeling a little flirtatious to look? We imagine bright eyes, dewy skin, and lots and lots of blush. We want that natural flush of color on the cheeks that often arises when you’re around your crush.

How to Create a Coquette Makeup Look

Step 1

Now that you know where the name coquette comes from, let’s talk application. Because the coquette makeup trend really highlights your natural feminine beauty, we want to keep the face makeup light. In fact, you could skip foundation all together and go right in with a concealer under your eyes and on any blemishes.

Step 2

Next, and most importantly, you need to choose a blush. This is going to be the hero product of your makeup look, so try to choose a shade that’s both intensely pink and glowy. We’re partial to our Blush Color Infusion in Strawberry, but you could wear our Tinted Moisturizer Blush and get the same effect. Simply, sweep across your cheeks (and nose!) and feel free to carry it all the way up to your eyelids. We’re going for a cohesively pink look, so don’t worry about going overboard.

Step 3

From there, we recommend checking out our Rose Glow collection. Our RoseGlow Caviar Stick Eye Shadow is the perfect product for pink, shimmery lids and by using just a few shades, you can create a look that has both depth and shine. Add a touch of mascara, and your eyes are done!

Step 4

Lastly, we need to add some color to your lips and highlight to the face and your coquette makeup look is complete. Use a subtle pink gloss, translucent powder under your eyes and T-zone, and finish with a dusting of highlighter across your cheekbones—and voilà! Your radiant, dewy, flirty, and feminine look is complete.
